After a full day of outdoor adventure in the spectacular local landscape you can find informal relaxation back at the lodge in the traditional fishing village of Mefjordvær.
Our lodge is located in the small town of Mefjordvær on the outskirts of Senja island. Built in 1948, the house was historically used as a lodge for passing fishermen who needed a temporary base. During the period when Mefjordvær was among the largest fishing center in North Norway it also had the dual function as post office and grocery store for the town. We have tried to preserve the atmosphere of the traditional lodge – we feel there is an exciting history in the walls of the lodge.
Senja Lodge & Mountainguides have made this lodge to a perfect base for mountain people. It’s a cozy, welcoming place, with informal atmosphere. We have a large mountain and arctic library with books to inspire and entertain you after a day in the elements. There is also a multimedia room with a large collection of ski, climbing, paddling and expedition films that you can enjoy on a big screen.
The lodge can comfortably accommodate up to 12 people, but can sleep more on request. We have 12 beds with linen provided, or floor mattress for people on a budget trip. Food is made together in a roomy kitchen, shared by all. There is a shared toilet and shower, and a drying/laundry room. Wireless internet and cell phone coverage is also available. It is also possible to rent a hot tub on request.
The town of Mefjordvær has approximately 170 residents, most of whom work at the fish factory in the neighboring town of Senjahopen (4 km away/800 residents). In Senjahopen you will find a grocery store, bank, post office, petrol station and kiosk. Mefjordvær is a cozy fishermen's town in the outskirt of North Norway, where the locals are friendly and welcoming. For entertainment the local pub and restaurant is located just 50 meter from the lodge. Famous for being the most popular pub on Senja island, you can often find live music events.
